This program celebrates the global expansion of the genre by presenting museum quality cutting-edge work from both established and emerging artists spanning across disciplines.

Amidst praise from collectors, SCOPE will continue its acclaimed VIP Programming with an exclusive series of talks and events. SCOPE will also offer an exclusive shuttle service for VIP Cardholders courtesy of Porsche.

Sara Pope

Contemporary artist Sara Pope is best known for her bold, seductive paintings of voluptuous lips. Taking inspiration from a successful career in the fashion industry as a shoe designer for brands such as Paul Smith, and also her work in magazines as a designer and art director, Sara aims to capture the sensuality and seductive power conveyed by the lips and mouth. Interested in questions of beauty, communication, and the notion of perfection, Sara uses the perspective of her commercial experience to explore these themes.

The starting point is a makeup brush and a lipstick. She paints the models’ lips, then, using tricks and techniques of makeup and lighting, she begins the process of creating the perfect lips. She asks the model, to express different emotions which she captures photographically. Using these shots as inspiration she begins the artwork. The painting process involves several layers of thin oil-diluted paint being overlaid, blending and smoothing the colours extensively at every stage, sometimes also mixing lipstick into the paint. Emulating the stylistic slickness of advertising, the result is glossy, perfect and irresistible.

Sara’s work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions and art fairs across London and internationally, including Next Street Gallery, Paris, The Saatchi Gallery, London, The London Original Print Fair at the Royal Academy of Arts and SCOPE Miami. Sara sells work regularly at auction at Bonhams Auction House, and is also the first British female artist in over 70 years to have a piece of work accepted into the Vatican collection.

Tyler Shields

“all my photographs tell a story – they are a freeze frame of just a split second yet they provide a window onto a world of fantasy, eroticism, violence, romance, you name it. For me, good art makes you think, great art makes you feel, and I hope that when anyone views my work, they’re aroused by some sort of emotion – whether that be shock, joy, love or even anger.”

Californian fine art photographer and filmmaker Tyler Shields will exhibit a personally selected set of eleven prints at Photo London, in collaboration with his representative London gallery Imitate Modern. The booth will feature works from the entire breadth of the provocateur photographer’s portfolio, beginning with the Glitter Mouth shot in 2012, to his most recent, captured during the global pandemic and made possible by the unusually vacant streets of LA. Iconic works will be displayed such as Under the Rain (2018), an image which Shields’ himself admitted looked even better on film than it did in real life.

Dave Pollot

I’m fascinated by the evolving relationship between art, fashion, and advertising.  We humans, it seems, are compelled to express ourselves through creation and consumption:  Throughout history, artists have created and those with the means have adorned their walls and their bodies with those creations.  While advertising has been around in one form or another for much of recorded history, the extent to which it now pervades, seen and unseen, is truly remarkable. Primer I, II, and III explore the evolution of art and fashion as a result of advertising and ask the viewer to think about how each changes with the other two.  Are they three discrete participants in contemporary capitalist (or even non-capitalist) society?  Have they ever been?  How has advertising borrowed from art and art from advertising?  Are the goals of contemporary artists and luxury brands any different?  Should they be?  Are the ways in which we participate in contemporary art and fashion, advertisements themselves?

Dave Pollot is a New York based artist who is known for his altered thrift art paintings.  He finds unwanted artwork and adds his own touch – most often pop culture parodies – and in doing so, bridges the divide between classic and pop art. His artwork has been displayed and found homes in galleries, businesses, and private collections in all 50 states and in over 40 countries around the globe.  His work has attracted attention from the media both in the U.S. and abroad, including Business Insider, Instagram, and the SyFy Channel, and his corporate clients include SONY, Instagram, and McDonalds among others.  When he’s not painting, he can be found spending time with his wife and two dogs.

CB Hoyo

CB Hoyo was born in 1995 in Havana, Cuba. At a young age, he immigrated to the Dominican Republic, and now lives in Europe. His artistic process began as a child, when he started interpreting the world through his paintings. Over the past few years, his work has increased in stature. A self-trained artist, CB Hoyo continually produces works that celebrate life itself. Fresh, coloUrful, and satirical declarations are three words that easily describe his works of art. Working with any medium on any material, the artist uses a mixture of art historical trends but always incorporates his unique voice. CB Hoyo is making a proper mark on the current art scene by playfully questioning artistic authenticity and monetary value in an era defined by fake news and social media.
