Tyler Shields and Max Wiedemann
Controversial, unseen shots of Lindsay Lohan taken by hot young Hollywood’s favourite photographer Tyler Shields will be shown exclusively at London’s Imitate Modern for the first time in a collaborative exhibition with artist Maximilian Wiedemann this October.
Wiedemann, whose portrait of Elle MacPherson made the front cover of The Big Issue and which earned him praise from the supermodel who stated she is “a big fan of Max’s works,” is famous for turning culturally iconic images or brands on their heads. His talent lies in giving audiences his own original perspective and creating works which contain more truth than the original image, along with his own brand of wry humour and subversion. ‘American excess’, a witty take on an American Express card aims to shine light on society’s obsession with money, together with exposing the brash side of popular culture, which are all central themes in his work.
Tyler Shields is known for his work with the elite young actors of our generation, including the stars of Glee, Mad Men, Twilight. His blood-bath and porn star pictures of Lohan, were taken during the time she appeared in court, where she was forced to defend herself, claiming the images were ‘art.’ Wiedemann and Sheilds’ collaboration with photographs of Lohan will reveal a callous, yet exclusive insight into society’s harmful manipulation of celebrity for money and the stinging consequences of it.
