Exhibition Runs: 1st – 31st May 2013
A photographic dynasty is set to continue with an inspiring new collection of photographs from a much lauded new talent on the photographic scene – Fenton Bailey. The exhibition, curated by brother Sascha Bailey, will showcase a collection of work entitled “Human Relations” and is co-staged with talented photographer Mairi-Luise Tabbakh.
So called due to the unique interpersonal relationships and entwinement of the protagonists – “Human Relations” showcases a series of photographic images of the female form in both black and white and colour. With Fenton’s images focusing on the faces and forms of his 2 Muses – both of whom were involved with relationships with him at the time – it’s his way of capturing the intensity of the relationship at the height of its sensuality and intensity. His desire to take images with an intensely personal undercurrent is at the epicenter of his work. The images were all taken in two of Fenton’s most loved places – Japan and London – and again demonstrate how an affinity with a place has an impact on the human relationships around us. The sheer beauty of his model was the overriding inspiration for the images – to capture it in perpetuity for generations to come.
Mairi’s work takes on an even more erotic point of view. Her black and white Erotica collection within the Human Relations exhibition is both a celebration of the female body and an intensely personal journey and appreciation of human relationships. The objectification of her subject is all the more intriguing given her own femininity and adds a layer of mystery to the pieces. One is left wondering the nature of the relationship between artist and model.
