CARNIVAL OF COLOUR
EXHIBITION RUNS 23rd August – 20th September, 2014
We are proud to present our ‘Carnival of Colour’ – a group exhibition featuring three of our established artists: Paul Oz, Luc Waring and Rosie Emerson, alongside those debuting at Imitate Modern: Ben Allen, Raymond Salvatore Harmon, URNY and See One.
Each artist applied their skill and individual techniques to bring this diverse collection together, presenting their unique interpretation of the Carnival theme. This collection is a testament to their versatility, and true creative flair, cementing their places among the most exciting emerging artists of the art world. We asked our artists: ‘What does carnival mean to you?’, their replies, revealed on the gallery walls, are as interesting and varied as the artworks, and provide insight to the inspirations behind the pieces in this collection.
URNY and See One are our American imports, bringing their New York energy and instantly recognisable street styles to London. Luc Waring merges his youthful rebellion with a skill and insight far beyond his years, while Paul Oz provides a touch of the Caribbean, and Rosie Emerson adds a feminine flair to the collection. Raymond Salvatore Harmon fuses street and fine art, weaving the essence of the Carnival within the colours and dynamics of his abstract paintings. Finally, completing the line-up, is Ben Allen, who’s skull series perfectly capture the history, symbology and riotous nature of ‘Carnival’ as we know it today.
This wild kaleidoscope of colour comes together, perfectly complementing and contrasting each other, to form our brightest summer exhibition yet, the Imitate Modern Carnival of Colour!
