Following three successful solo shows, Stasha has become well-known for her bold and unique work. For her Colour exhibition Stasha preferred to ‘freestyle’ with acrylic paint and water, rather than painting with a brush. This enabled her to feel the paint on her fingers, and express her vision more effectively and speedily than using a paintbrush would allow.
Her inspirations are taken from her surroundings, from painting in the delicate Spring garden that inspired SOFT to the summer flowers in REACTION – a ‘burst of energy and passion’. By contrast, Stasha painted COLOUR inside a white room; “all I could think was colour… and very soon my white room was no longer white… but filled instead with so many beautiful colours”.
Her latest exhibition And The Stars Shine Down marks a new direction in her art. Compared to her previous exhibitions Soft, Reaction and Colour which were carried out in her “freestyle painting” technique and were rather abstract in their content, And the Stars Shine Down differs in both of these aspects. This exhibition is very symbolical and deeply personal for Stasha taking inspiration from the idea that our lost loved ones can look down on us like the stars.
