#1 Tyler Shields
Tyler Shields provocative work dances at the intersection of modern photography, glamour, outlandishness, and unthinkable. Fearlessness is key to Tyler, whether it is tying himself to a couch and hanging outside a 14th floor window for a shot or creating a “no rules” environment in which the subjects produce an almost surrealist response to the scene. Working with subjects of all levels of celebrity (but most famously working with Lindsey Lohan, Rumer Willis, Colton Haynes), his work is free-willed, ephemeral and gritty.
#2 Cody Choi
The photography of Cody Choi channels his experience as a seasoned performer of the stage into dance portraiture and theatre photography. Choi has been involved with dance companies around the world as a performer and choreographer since his graduation from the The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2000. From television to film to the stage, Chody has translated his artistic acumen in dance to theatre to create works that embody a journey of movement, physical power, the ephemeral and its affects. His work translates the dynamism of live dance into intimate dialogues with performers of the stage—tapping into the dancer’s frozen state to show not only ability but state of mind.
