Opening of Decadence by Tyler Shields

A look back at Wednesday night…

‘Hollywood’s favourite photographer’ Tyler Shields flew in to London to celebrate the opening of his new solo exhibition “Decadence” which Imitate Modern co-hosted with Maddox Gallery.

A cast of young Hollywood actors and models take centre stage in this new sumptuous body of works with Tyler Shields on playful form as he invites his muses to recreate the decadence and self-indulgence at the heart of Marie Antoinette’s Versailles.

The opening event was held of Wednesday 3rd February at Maddox Gallery and was preceded by a press preview and Tyler Shields’ arrival into central London with three ladies dressed in Marie Antoinette outfits in a carriage pulled by horses. Guests at the exhibition opening included Lindsay Lohan, Tamara Ecclestone, Petra Ecclestone, Bernie Ecclestone, Robert Pires, Immy Waterhouse, Bella Cruise, Maximilian Cooper, Sinitta, Steph Pratt, Anita Zabludowicz and Rosie Fortescue.

In keeping with the Decadence theme, guests were greeted by Tyler’s glamorous courtiers clad in Marie Antoinette style dress. Waitresses in Marie Antoinette undergarments served delicate high-tea sandwiches and rose cupcakes from Sweet Bea’s Bakery with Laurent Perrier champagne, Grey Goose French Martinis and Versailles Coolers.

The striking façade of Maddox Gallery was beautifully decorated with a cascade of tumbling blossom courtesy of Nikki Tibbles from Wild at Heart.

“Los Angeles-based photographer Tyler Shields gained notoriety in 2014 for feeding a £70,000 Hermes handbag to an alligator. His new series Decadence continues the consumerist theme. Shot on a vintage Hasselblad camera, it transplants a cast of Hollywood wannabes to Marie Antoinette’s Versailles “
