We promised an immersive gallery experience, and CARTRAIN‘s NOT FOR SALE transformed the gallery and transported guests to the streets of East London. Visitors entered a club-like space with a downtown, urban atmosphere. Red ropes were replaced with police tape for a bold launch party, unlike any on the art scene.
What we saw:
Red brick walls and CARTRAIN’s instantly recognisable street art gave the space a gritty feel, while guests were challenged and entertained with pop art style images of Kim Jong Un and George Bush. These were juxtaposed against pieces featuring Hitchcock’s ‘Psycho’, creating a compelling and acerbic critique of modern society.
Our partners in crime:
We would like to give thanks to the following parties for collaboration on last night’s launch event:
Gregorio, our resident DJ, was on the decks with an urban playlist echoing the underground scene CARTRAIN has created
Beers and vodka cocktails were the order of the day, with Fine Dine Events manning the bar, ensuring our guests remained well-quenched (@GarethMcAinsh)
This exhibition is open 9th – 24th January, if you weren’t able to join us last night, we hope you can view ‘NOT FOR SALE’ in January!
