Advent Calendar Day 22: Max Wiedemann
Originally a graffiti artist, Maximilian Wiedemann, explores the dependent relationship between pop culture, media and consumerism. His sense of humor is perfect for our ambiguous times, with quotes such as ‘Closer to God in Heels’ and ‘Money Talks but Has Nothing to Say’.
Max Wiedemann does not only work with graffiti and painting, but has also experimented with a number of artistic techniques creating installations, scultptures and neons. He has continued the quest into the lifestyle of the rich and famous and has painted Lindsay Lohan , Tamara Ecclestone and Caprice Bourret among other celebrities. He has exhibited at a number of shows at Imitate Modern including “Well Hung” alongside the famous photographer Tyler Shields, “Proud to be British” and his solo exhibition “Greedy as a Pig”.
Although he is now based in USA, his iconic works continue to adorn the homes of his collectors in London as well restaurants and nightclubs. Most recently Wiedemann’s neon “Love sucks” has been spotted at the entrance of a newly opened late night bar and club Café Kaizen in Mayfair.
