Exhibiting for the first time at Imitate Modern is a free-spirited UK artist Ben Allen, celebrated for his ‘comfortably controversial’ pop-art paintings. Allen’s work ‘collages’ contrasting themes, juxtaposing imagery reminiscent of a church’s stained glass windows with skulls representing rebellion and popular culture. The colourful screen prints are incredibly vibrant and engaging, each one unique and hand finished to emphasise the intricate design.
Allen has exhibited in a number of group shows in London and around the world, and boasts high profile collectors, from Jade Jagger to Richard Branson, along with big brand clients such as Levis, Converse and Nokia. Drawing inspiration from surfing and skateboard culture, Ben Allen has carved a successful career in contemporary art – both in commercial projects and gallery exhibitions – with the foundations in place, he is definitely set to make his mark on the art world.
Previously exhibited in ‘Carnival of Colour’, 23rd August – 20th September 2014
