British contemporary urban street artist Rich Simmons is offering an original piece of art for one lucky winner of the Centrepoint / Evening Standard Charity Auction. ‘Just Be You Tiful’ is an original painting on paper, from an edition of 5.
Rich Simmons is a British urban contemporary artist. He rose to fame after his street art piece celebrating the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011 was noticed by the media. The piece entitled ‘Future ***King’ depicted the royal couple as Sid & Nancy of the Sex Pistols, capturing the feelings of a nation in a fresh and witty manner. Images of the work reached a global audience within hours of its completion.
Since then Rich Simmons has had a number of solo exhibitions with Imitate Modern in London and has shown his work abroad in Switzerland, Azerbaijan and USA.
His roots in street art are reflected in his works on canvas and paper as he also uses stencils and spray paint. The work “Just Be You Tiful” is an example of this practice and the message “Just be you tiful”, reflects Rich Simmons’s idea about exploration of beauty by being yourself. He believes that art can be used as therapy and that by being yourself and expressing your own creativity through art, people can live a happier life.
